Charter Mark
The Charter Mark helps develop better public services, by improving standards of service and putting customers first.
To keep the Charter Mark we need to re-apply every 3 years, to do this we need to complete 3 stages:
- Measure our services against 6 Criteria
We measure our services against criteria. - Submit a written application to an Independent Body
We submit our application supported by evidence, to an independent assessor. - Examination by an Independent Charter Mark Assessor
A Charter Mark assessor then examines our application. The assessors are independent experts in good customer service, with a backgrounds from the public and private sectors. We then receive a visit from the assessor.
2005 Award
We achieved Charter Mark status for the 5th time in November 2005. We are one of only 17 public sector bodies to get this challenging standard 5 times.
We received commendations under several of the criteria.
- Our partnership working with Surrey University students on the design of our Annual Report
- The innovative way we worked with customers to review and improve our external website, and
- Our work in improving our environmental performance, through our Environmental Management System.
The Charter Mark provides us with a framework to constantly improve and maintain our services to the highest standard. We continue to work with our customers to ensure we remain one of the best patent offices in the world.
