Investors in People

Investors in People (IIP) is the national quality standard for the training and development of people. IIP provides a framework for improving our performance through setting our business objectives and developing staff to meet them.

What do we have to do?

To become an Investor in People, we must be able to show that we have sound practices in place. This gives staff training and development opportunities to allow them to contribute to the performance of the organisation.

What we are doing

We gained Investors in People accreditation in July 1998.

We continue to identify ways to:

  • set up new practices to improve the performance of our organisation
  • meet our business goals by improving our training and development for staff
  • provide staff with a wide range of learning opportunities, which are provided by our in-house training and development team

Benefits of IIP

Good practices identified include:

  • involvement in the New Deal initiative
  • use of feedback from staff
  • managers understand their responsibilities for staff development and communication of training opportunities
  • commitment of senior staff to communication and staff development
