Appointed Copyright and IP Enforcement Director in January 2008.

Ed is a career civil servant, starting in 1985, working for the then UK Department of Energy. In 1989 he went on to work for the Cabinet Office Secretariat, and between 1991 - 1995, the DTI, working on arms export licensing, nuclear R&D and nuclear fusion policy.

In 1996 Ed started work for the European Commission, where he spent three years working on mergers and acquisition control. From 1999 - 2003 Ed enjoyed a spell at the Office of Science and Technology, where he covered government science policy.

Prior to joining the Intellectual Property Office, Ed worked for UK Trade & Investment where, since 2003, he had been covering the finance brief and at various times HR and IT functions.
