Since launching the IP Crime Strategy in 2004 the Intellectual Property Office has undertaken a wide variety of awareness raising activities for industry, enforcement officers and consumers to highlight the threat posed by IP crime.

Intellectual Property Crime Group

A collaborated approach within the IP crime community is essential to combat IP crime, and the Intellectual Property Office administered National IP Crime Group meets this need.

Annual IP Crime Report

The IP Crime Group produces the Annual IP Crime Report PDF document(1.83Mb) used to inform Governement, local authorities and the wider law enforcement and criminal justice organisations about the IP crime problems the UK faces. The latest report was launched on 25 June 2009.

The Supply Chain Toolkit PDF document(349Kb)

The Supply Chain Toolkit was launched by David Lammy MP on the 26 January 2009 to help individuals and businesses to be aware of the growing risk from counterfeit goods getting into business supply chains - it also provides guidance on how to protect you’re IP assets and what to do if things go wrong. Update: amendments have been made to the on-line version of the supply chain toolkit to reflect changes to HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) procedures.

Proceeds of Crime Act (PoCA) Leaflet PDF document(89Kb)

The Proceeds of Crime Act (PoCA) Leaflet was launched on the 26 May 2009 to raise awareness of the Act. Targeting consumers and market traders, the leaflet warns would-be buyers and traders of counterfeit goods of the real cost - not only in terms of economic damage but also the risks to health and safety.

IP crime in the workplace

The Intellectual Property Office commissioned research PDF document(659Kb) to understand the scale of IP crime in the workplace and identify the next step forward with this problem. IP crime in the workplace is a work stream of the IP Crime Group.
