Annual IP Crime Report
The main aim of the IP Crime Report is to establish an accurate measurement
of IP crime within the UK - highlighting the greater focus and prioritisation that the IP
Crime Strategy
(260Kb) has brought since its launch in 2004. This is clearly
demonstrated by a significant increase in enforcement action and successful prosecutions latest
figures on criminal convictions for IP offences rising from 402 in 2002 to over 1,260 in 2007.
The
new IP Crime Report 2008/09
(1.83Mb) was launched at the Imagination Gallery on 25 June 2009. The report examines the threat posed to businesses and individuals by IP crime, illustrating that IP
crime is a huge threat to society and the economy, and highlights examples of recent successes in combating
it.
The report contains statistical data and enforcement activity
from enforcement agencies such as Trading Standards, Police and HM Revenue & Customs along with
industry bodies, including an interim report covering IP Crime
Data
(177Kb) from 2007 as an annex.
A consistent message throughout the new report and previous editions is the continued importance in bringing together different parts of Government, enforcement agencies and industry stakeholders to create a coordinated approach to meet this threat.
The last Annual
IP Crime Report 2007
