Renewing
To keep your intellectual property (IP) rights in force you must renew them at regular intervals from their filing date using the appropriate form and paying a fee.
Designs
Send us form DF9A and pay the appropriate fee to renew your design. You must do this every five years, to keep your design in force for up to a maximum of 25 years.
Patents
Send us form 12 and pay the appropriate fee to renew your patent. You must do this every year after the 5th year, to keep your patent in force for up to a maximum of 20 years.
Trade marks
Send us form TM11 and pay the appropriate fee to renew your trade mark. You must do this every 10 years.
What if I miss a renewal date?
If you miss a renewal date, we will cancel your rights. However, you may be able to restore your rights.
