Requesting a hearing

If we have raised objections against your patent or if you are in dispute with someone else about patents, a hearing may sometimes be necessary.

You should simply put your request in writing and send it to us. We will let you know at which stages this will be necessary. Then, we will usually contact you by telephone to make convenient arrangements.

Depending on the type of hearing necessary, you may need to agree a suitable date with others before we can set the final agreed date. We will make all other specific arrangements for your particular hearing with you and anybody else involved.

Hearings are usually held at our London or Newport Offices, but we can hold them elsewhere if circumstances justify it. We also hold them through a video conference link.

We do not charge for hearings.

Once everything has been arranged, we will write to you to confirm the details.
