Correcting errors

You may apply to change:

• your application before the patent is granted;
  
  
• the specification after the patent is granted;

or to correct an error in:

• your patent or application for a patent; or
  
  
• the register of patents or any connected document.

To make an amendment or correction, send us your request in writing.

If you want to:

• change something, you should explain why.
  
  
• change your patent after it is granted, please e-mail us the proposed change and the reasons for it.
  
  
• correct the register of patents or any connected document, we may ask for evidence to support your request and for the correction to show on a copy of the document you want corrected.

You must say what you want corrected and how the error occurred.

What happens next?

If we agree to make the correction, we will change our records accordingly and write to confirm that we have done so.

In some cases, we may ask you to provide evidence to support your request.
