WIPO broadcasters treaty

International negotiations are ongoing to try to finalise a text for the Treaty updating protection for broadcasters.  At the meeting of the Standing Committee on Copyright and Related Rights in May 2006 there was a decision to consider separate proposals for the protection of traditional broadcasting and broadcasting over computer networks (the Internet).

A further meeting will be held, probably in August 2006, to consider the proposal relating to traditional broadcasting. The second proposal will be considered at a later date.
