Patent Office Chief Executive Ron Marchant is a winner in the annual WORLDleaders European IP awards

Ron Marchant has been given a prestigious award in this year’s annual WORLDleaders: The European Intellectual Property Awards for best achievement in nation an international affairs.

The importance of the award can be measured by the fact that over 200 IP specialists from around the UK and Europe attended this year’s event held in London’s Grosvenor House on 16 November.

The top awards and winners are:

  • Best achievement in national and international affairs - Ron Marchant of the UK Patent Office
  • Best achievement in litigation (sponsored by Emirates Advocates) – Highly commended: Jesus de Alonso of Baker & McKenzie
    Winners: Morag Macdonald, Trevor Cook and Robert Williams of Bird & Bird.
  • Best achievement in practice (sponsored by Jones Day) –Evie Kyriakides of Mars.
  • Best achievement in protecting IP on the internet – The Beachcroft LLP Team and Robin Fry of the Federation Against Software Theft.
  • Best achievement in IP education and training – RGC Jenkins & Co: Trademarks Group.
  • Best achievement in IP enforcement (Sponsored by Jones day) – Highly commended: Fabrizio de Benedetti of Societa’ Italiana Brevetti
    Winners: Burkhart Goebel, Dietrich Ohlgart and Constanze Schulte of Lovells.
  • Best achievement in IP management (Sponsored by Jones Day) – Gillian Switalski of F&C Asset Management Plc.
  • Best Eastern European litigation team – Baker & McKenzie’s Russian Federation IP Team

  • Lifetime achievement award – Thierry von Innis of Allen & Overy LLP and Tibor Z Gold of Kilburn & Strode.
