Annual IP crime report
Preparations for the 2009/10 IP crime report are underway. Wider engagement and cooperation will be needed to gather up to date evidence of IP crime within the UK. We are seeking assistance from industry, enforcement agencies and other public bodies to submit details of activities and outcomes, trends noted and challenges faced.
Information
from Trading Standards, relating to tackling IP crime in the period April 2009 to date, is required
by the 5 February 2010 for inclusion in the 2009/10 report. Submissions are made using a questionnaire
(71Kb)
which also has more details on how we will use the information provided. We have also requested information from Police, HM Revenue & Customs and Right Holders.
The
main aim of the IP crime report is to establish an accurate measurement of IP crime within the UK. The
current IP Crime Report 2008/09
(1.83Mb) launched on 25 June 2009, examines the threat posed to businesses
and individuals by IP crime, illustrating that IP crime is a huge threat to society and the economy,
and highlights examples of recent successes in combating it.
The
report contains statistical data and enforcement activity from enforcement agencies such as Trading
Standards, Police and HM Revenue & Customs along with industry bodies, including an interim report
covering IP Crime
Data
(177Kb) from 2007 as an annex.
A consistent message throughout all the reports is the continued importance in bringing together different parts of Government, enforcement agencies and industry stakeholders to create a coordinated approach to meet this threat. The information within the reports informs and influences Government policy making and should be used to facilitate priority setting to meet this rising threat.
The previous
Annual IP Crime Report 2007
(2.12Mb) outlines the successes to date, particularly the effectiveness
of legislation, the productive collaboration between Government, enforcement agencies and industry.
Earlier editions include the Annual Enforcement Report 2005
(715Kb) published alongside
the annexes
(2.23Mb) on the 22 June 2006 and Annual Enforcement Report 2004
(745Kb).
