Seminars
The Intellectual Property Office has also developed a number of training packages and seminars relating to IP crime for the enforcement community, these include:
Section 107A and 198A of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988
The Intellectual Property Office in conjunction with the Mechanical-Copyright Protection Society (MCPS), held a number of one day seminars throughout the UK, on the enactment of Section 107A and 198A of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988.
This enactment placed a duty on UK and Northern Ireland Trading Standards Authorities to enforce criminal offences relating to Copyright. In Scotland the Procurator Fiscal will be responsible for any prosecutions as Trading Standards Officers will not have the power to prosecute.
Further courses will be held depending on demand.
Witness skills - intellectual property law
