Changing your name or address

If you change your name or address please complete Patents Form 20 (19Kb) so that we can update the register of patents. There is no fee for this.

If the ownership of the patent has changed (either through a sale or a company merger) then this is an assignment and you must use Patents Form 21 to tell us about it.

What happens next?

We will record the change in the register and send written confirmation to you. In some cases we may ask you to provide evidence before the change in details is recorded.

Please note that if we do this, any documents filed as proof of the change in details will be destroyed in due course. Original documents are not required as we will accept photocopies as evidence of the change of details.
