Branding in a Modern Economy 2009
Minister for Higher Education and Intellectual Property; David Lammy instigated the conference, bringing together industry, academics and government representatives who support and recognise the value of branding to both business and the UK economy as a whole. The aim of the conference was to create an opportunity for frank and open dialogue that may lead to the development of policies to advance the understanding of key characteristics of brands.
The
report
(712Kb) summarises the discussions and issues that were raised at the conference
and offers suggestions
for improving the UK’s economic, commercial and legal environment in order to create a world class environment
in which to create and build brands.
David Lammy is pleased to receive the report and says:
"Today's report on the Branding in a Modern Economy event highlights the importance of gaining greater insight into the true value of brands and identifies a number of key areas where further understanding is needed.
I look forward to working together with business to ensure that the UK's world-renowned and emerging brands continue to develop with the protection they need to succeed."
The Intellectual Property Office (IPO) will consider each of the outputs; a full and considered response will be completed in due course.
