After you apply

Can I add more countries?

You may add countries to your international trade mark at any time after the mark has been registered. Fill in a 'Request for subsequent designation' (form MM4) External Link and send it to us.

You will have to give the international registration number of your mark on this form, so if your mark is not yet registered you will not be able to add countries to your mark.

Managing your International trade mark

We do not take any action to record assignments, withdrawals or licences on international registered marks.

To record the assignment (sale) of an international mark, complete a 'Change in ownership' (form MM5) External Link. Send the form direct to WIPO or through the national office of the current owner of the mark.

To record a change of name or address of the Holder of an international mark, complete a Request for the recordal of a Change in Name and/or Address (Form MM9) External Link . Send the form direct to WIPO or through the national office of the current owner of the mark.

You can withdraw the mark from individual countries by completing a 'Renunciation' (form MM7) External Link . Send this form direct to WIPO, not the countries affected.

To record a licence granted against an International mark you should complete a 'Recording of a license' (form MM13) External Link  and send it direct to WIPO.

We no longer record licences against UK designations of international marks but any licences which we recorded on our register before we changed our regulations in 2002 are still valid.
