Correcting an error

Applications

Once you have sent in an application, there are only limited ways in which you can change it:

You may:

  • restrict the goods or services covered by the application by writing to tell us how you want to restrict your specification;
  • correct the name or address of the applicant
  • correct errors of wording or of copying, or
  • correct any obvious errors

but only if the correction does not substantially change the mark or extend the goods or services covered by the application.

Fill in form TM21

To correct an error or omission in a trade mark application, fill in form TM21 PDF document(31Kb) stating in section 4 of the form what you want to change and why you want to change it and send us

Registrations

This allows you to correct any errors or omissions in

  • your own registered trade mark.
  • or someone else’s, registered trade mark.

It does not allow you to change the mark itself, for example, asking to change the spelling of the words in a trade mark.
