Does your design consist of, or include, Royal insignia, certain protected flags and international emblems, etc?

If your design includes representations of certain protected symbols or other protected emblems or images, we will object to the registration unless you have permission to use these elements in your design.

These include:

  • Royal arms, crowns or flags, or members of the Royal family

  • Misleading or offensive use of flags of countries in the United Kingdom.
  • Coats of arms subject to a grant of arms by the Crown.

  • Olympic symbols, words, emblems etc.

You will need to seek permission from the International Olympics Committee (IOC) but information on use related to the London 2012 games can be found on the London 2012 website External Link.
