Display your rights

There is no official symbol to show that a design is registered, but you can display the design number on the product once it is registered, for example, Registered Design No. 1111111 or Reg. Des. 1111111, and so on.

However, please note, under Section 35 of the Registered Designs Act 1949 as amended it is an offence to falsely claim that a design is registered.

Your design registration is not valid until we have issued your certificate, so it is still an offence to claim your design is registered during the period of time in between applying for a registration and receiving confirmation from us that registration has been granted. This includes applications which have been deemed acceptable but for which deferred registration and publication has been requested. During this period, you can state that design registration has been applied for, but not that it has been granted.
