Design registration gives the owner a monopoly on their product design.

Registered Designs cover the making, offering, putting on the market, importing, exporting or using a product incorporating the design, or stocking the product for such purposes.

The owner can grant others permission (licence) to use their design. Designs can be sold.

We will supply a copy of a design or design application, upon request and payment of the fee.

Transferring ownership

If you transfer ownership of your design to someone else, you must tell us so we can record the change in the register of designs.
