How to make a request for accelerated examination under the PPH

Please refer to the procedure for requesting accelerated examination with us (70Kb) based on an application filed with the CIPO. Please note that where a Canadian application is used as the basis for accelerating your UK application, your UK application must share a valid priority claim with the corresponding Canadian application.

A request checklist (15Kb) is also available so that you can check that you are including all of the required supporting documentation when you request accelerated examination with us. Please note that while we are normally able to obtain supporting documentation directly from the CIPO on your behalf, this may not be possible to do in a timely manner where a CIPO office action has only recently been issued. If you are able, therefore, to provide the supporting documentation then this can minimise the risk of any possible delays in the processing of your request.

A completed request checklist should be the uppermost document when requesting acceleration under the PPH agreement to ensure that your request receives prompt attention.

All requests for accelerated examination with us under the PPH should be accompanied by the required supporting documentation and should be addressed to:
