Have you got?

A valid e-mail address where we can send the web filing receipt.

A valid credit/debit card or details of a customer/deposit account that you hold with us (if payment is required when filing).

All the details and PDF documents required for the filing, for example:

• name & address details of applicant(s) and if needed, inventor(s) and/or representative or patent agent
• filing details of any prior application being declared, divided from or relied upon for a description
• PDF documents, for example, description, drawings, claims, abstract, digitally signed US priority document, evidence to support a late declaration of priority, covering letter

Official filing dates

If your application meets the necessary filing requirements, we will usually award the date of receipt of the application as the official filing date. However, this does not apply to applications which include a claim to priority from an earlier application which are received in the Office on a Saturday, Sunday or public holiday.

For these applications, the official filing date will be the next working day as the Office is considered to be closed on weekends and public holidays for the filing of these types of application.
