Patents online services: news relating to the increases in the patents e-filing discount, patent and trade mark fee changes and the impact to our online services
On 6 April 2010, the Intellectual Property Office is introducing a number of changes to the fees (professional section) for applying for patent protection and renewing granted patents along with a range of changes to a number of patent and trade mark administration fees.
The fees changes include an increase in the e-filing discounts available for search and examination requests, both of which will receive a £20 discount if filed electronically on or after 6 April 2010.
This discount applies to the Intellectual Property Office web filing system and the EPO online service. From 6 April 2010, if customers take advantage of the discounts available by electronically filing:
- The application form (Form 1) and the relevant fee (£20) at the time of filing
- The search request (Form 9A) and the relevant fee (£130)
- The examination request (Form 10) and the relevant fee (£80)
This will result in a reduction in the overall patent application fees from £280 to £230.
