Bursary scheme

Our bursary scheme helps women change their career path by pursuing qualifications in science or engineering.

We award up to 4 new bursaries each year giving £600 for every year of study, from a foundation course to completing your degree.

You can apply in any year of your study.

Who is eligible?

You are eligible if you are a female student who:

• Is taking a course in science or engineering and
• Has previous arts orientated education or experience.

Applying

Application forms are sent out in October to universities to nominate suitable applicants

Details to be completed on the application form include your educational or work experience and reasons for changing from arts to engineering or science.

Your application must be supported by your tutor and received by the 31 December.

Award of the bursary

We will assess your application and write to tell you whether we have awarded you a bursary.

If you have we will pay GBP £600 into your bank account in January/February.

The award is made for each year of your study on confirmation from the university that you are continuing on the course.

What we expect from you

We do not expect you to work for us if you receive a bursary. You will be invited to spend a day with us at our office in Newport  to give you the opportunity to meet some of the staff and gain an insight into the workings of the Intellectual Property Office.
