Summary
Patent GB 2466902, which relates to baby clothing comprising a thermo-chromic material that gives a visual indication if a baby is too hot, was granted to Mr Christopher Ebejer on 16th March 2011. Mr Ebejer is also the only named inventor. The registered ownership of the patent has changed three times since grant, firstly to a company Baby Glow UK Ltd, then to Ms Rosie Vernon and finally to Mr Ebejer and Mr Wickens. In a reference filed under section 37 Ms Vernon claimed entitlement to the patent on the basis that her signature in the agreement transferring the patent from her to Mr Ebejer and Mr Wickens was a forgery. Mr Ebejer and Mr Wickens counterclaimed that the agreements transferring the patent firstly to Baby Glow UK ltd and then to Ms Vernon were both void. The Hearing Officer concluded that Ms Vernon had not demonstrated that her signature was forged and hence the currently registered proprietors were the rightful owners of the patent.
