Summary
The invention relates to displaying process alert information about processes in a process control system. The examiner had argued that the claimed invention lacked an inventive step over prior art document US2010/0318934. The hearing officer found that there were several differences between the claimed invention and the cited prior art, including that the present invention is based on an “alert” approach to displaying information rather than the “batch” approach of the cited prior art. He held that these differences would not be obvious to the person skilled in the art, taking into account their common general knowledge. He therefore found that the claimed invention included an inventive step over the cited prior art and the application could proceed to grant.
