The mark consists of a 4-second sequence. First, a wedge-shaped ‘pestle’ appears vertically in the image from top to bottom, with the wide end facing upwards. Next, the ‘pestle’ moves vertically slightly downwards and the shape of a ‘mortar’ or bowl slowly forms on the lower left side of the ‘pestle’, running from the left and then under the tip of the ‘pestle’ to the right. In a continuous movement, the stylised symbol (‘pestle and mortar’) shifts slightly to the left, while at the same time the lettering ‘NOVARTIS’ appears in its entirety.
