Summary

The invention relates to a system for scanning codes and to a system for augmenting scannable codes to provide enhanced information and content. When an element is scanned a check is performed to see whether the information in the element is associated with a two-dimensional code in a database. When a match is found, the two-dimensional code is decoded and a vector is provided to identify rich media, such as videos, images and documents, that are then forwarded to the scanning device.

The hearing officer rejected the applicant’s construction of the claim and found that the contribution related to the linking of the scannable element to the two-dimensional code in the database and this does not make a technical contribution.
