Summary

The application concerns a transaction authorisation system. The system uses an image recognition system and a mobile phone location to identify a user at a service provider location to authorise a transaction.

The Hearing Officer applied the reasoning in Aerotel/Macrossan to identify the contribution. Following

the decision in Merrill Lynch he found the contribution lay was excluded as a method of doing business. He also considered the AT&T/Cvon signposts, further finding the application was also excluded as a computer program. The application was refused under Section 18(3)
