Summary

The invention related to attributing associations between interstitial content such as advertisements in streamed media content and subsequent activity performed by the media consumer, for example making a purchase associated with the product. Data relating to the media consumer, the interstitial content and the subsequent activity is stored and correlated on a remote server. The hearing officer found that the claimed invention did not involve an inventive step and was excluded from patentability as a method of doing business and a program for a computer as such. He therefore refused the application.
