Summary

The application relates to distributed ledger networks. In one aspect the distributed ledger network which involves nodes validating transactions using account balance information, a system assigning a witness node a reference value, and the sender and recipient in a transaction sending information to be cross-referenced against the distributed ledger to verify and complete the transaction. A method for currency acquisition on a distributed ledger network with users contributing data, nodes processing and verifying the data, peers casting votes on the data with the user receiving a reward when approved is also disclosed. The Hearing Officer agreed with the examiner’s reasoning that the amended claims add matter following the test in Bonzel so the application did not meet the requirements of section 76(2). The Hearing Officer also agreed with the examiner’s reasoning that the contribution does not provide the required technical effect following the four step Aerotel approach and applying the AT&T signposts as modified in HTC; relating instead solely to a program for a computer and a method for doing business as such, so the application did not meet the requirements of section 1(2)(c). The application was refused under section 18(3).
