Summary

The application relates to relating to cryptographic verification of ledger-based database management systems. A cryptographic hash tree (or signature tree) structure provides independent verification that the history of a transaction is unaltered, the hash values being based on an attribute of the transactions. The hash tree is published with both stable and unstable nodes, allowing third party verification of transactions stored in the ledger. Publishing unstable nodes means that it is possible for third parties to verify recent transactions before their respective hash values become stable, provide quicker verification. Following the Aerotel steps, the hearing officer found the contribution to be technical and remitted the application to the examiner for grant action.
