Summary
The invention relates to a computer-implemented method which allows a user to download a number of pre-existing computer applications or apps, automatically breaks each of those apps down into various parts and extract environments, objects and characters. An environments bundle, an objects bundle and a characters bundle are then formed from the from the extracted parts. A user can then use a user interface to select environments, objects and characters and a customised app is formed based upon the selections.
The hearing officer considered the applicant’s submissions that the invention used new hardware but could not find mention of any such hardware in the specification as filed. The hearing officer applied the Aerotel test to the invention of claim 1 to determine whether or not it provided a technical contribution and found that it did not. The invention of claim to was found to be a computer program. None of the other claims was considered to provide a technical contribution and were also found to be computer programs. The application was refused under section 18(3).
