Summary
The claimed invention relates generally to the construction of so-called “Supercapacitors”, a well known type of electrochemical capacitor characterised by their high capacity, their rapid charging/discharging rates and their use of electrodes with a very high specific surface area. Their electrodes are commonly made from nano-composite materials such as activated carbon, graphite, graphene or carbon nanotubes. The specification discloses an arrangement of a hexagonal supercapacitor and an array of interconnected hexagonal supercapacitors which may be provided with cooling channels therebetween. The examiner argues that the claims are unclear and not sufficiently supported by the description contrary to the requirements of section 14(5)(b),(c).
The hearing officer accepted the examiners arguments but allowed the applicant two months to file amendments to address the examiner’s objections. Otherwise, the application will be deemed refused under section 18(3).
